Life lately // The Past, Present & Future.

neon lights, life lately, southbank centreI started the year wanting to create a little series of posts as a regular feature. Summing up our adventures periodically, to capture all the shenanigans in Cool Bananas HQ. A bit like a diary entry I suppose.

I wouldn’t say that I’ve failed miserably at this task, but perhaps my expectations on time limitations weren’t considered appropriately when I had my light bulb moment, as it appears I add to this ‘series’ every 2 months, & since the last one is dated back in July….YUP you guessed it, here are the latest happenin’s from around these parts. A little catch up, if you will.

SO, how the devil are you all? It’s insane to think that summer has been & gone, September has arrived & in just 3 months it’ll be Christmas. I know it’s something we all say far too often, but seriously, WHERE HAS TIME GONE?!

How did you spend your summer? Ours wasn’t unduly different from any other time of year in terms of routine, as Bear is still 3 years old & attends a private nursery 2 days per week, which continues throughout the school holidays (we both thrive on having that small bit of structure).

On the one hand it feels as though we’ve been rushed off our feet, yet on the other, like we haven’t really ‘done’ that much? Life admin has been a major ball ache, & as soon as I’ve cleared one thing, feeling ready to focus my energies back into blogging, something else seems to pop up. The biggest admin challenge we’ve been faced with, which I haven’t really discussed openly on here yet (partly because I’ve been scared to jinx anything!) is our plans to relocate to Australia. I’m excited to share that our visas are finally being processed- an actual, real life human being in Australia has been assigned to us (a case officer), we’ve endured costly medicals & submitted our police checks. So unless Mr. B has a checkered or colourful criminal history I’m unaware of, we should have our visas by the end of this year. EEEEEK.

Away from the monotony of box ticking & form filling, here’s a round up of our life over the last few months:

Conscious that our time left in the UK is limited, we’ve been trying to pack in as many London-y, tourist-y , famil-y things we can…

I discovered a jewel in my local hood recently- think a funky, laid back shoreditch café vibe in suburbia, & you get Pato.

For all those mumma & mum’s to be, I’d highly recommend checking out Mothers Meetings events. Jenny regularly collaborates with brands for exclusive press days, & relaxed coffee mornings & I’ve made some lovely ‘mummy’ friends at these. Emilie here being one of them, do check out her awesome interiors blog here . Here we are larking around at shoreditch house

Home renovations & room changes…….

Baring in mind we’ll be packing up & moving out of our house in a few months time, you’d be forgiven for thinking we were completely daft to be making any changes to our home. But I could no longer stand the explosion of shoes & shit under the stairs, so we set to work creating a solution (you can read about it & see all the pictures here)

under stairs apple crates& We reached a milestone with the boy, who up until this point had been sung as a bug in his cotbed. I wanted to create a new space for him, to have his own independence: an area which was fabulously fun, but relaxing & calm at the same time. We set about redesigning his room, with a helping hand from IKEA. I promise as soon as it’s complete I’ll make a short video room tour & full post to accompany it. He’s settled straight in, which confirmed my mantra about transitioning into a ‘big bed’ when they’re ready. Here is a teeny tiny sneak peak…..

Stepping up my workouts……

I’ve been pushing myself in the gym lately, being pretty ridged with how often I work out & my routine. Enjoying HIIT & Grid workouts, & following lots of health & fitness bloggers for inspiration. I’m feeling great for it too- exercise really clears my mind & helps me focus.

‘Everyday I’m hustling’– The story of all bloggers, right?! (think LMFAO’s party rock anthem…just change the word shuffling to hustlin’. Ya got me?!)

Having pitched an idea I felt exceedingly passionate about earlier this year (which I poured blood, sweat & tears into), despite receiving great feedback at the time, it didn’t get picked up. I’ll be honest, I felt properly deflated, gutted. So you can imagine how much of a moral booster it was to find out this lil’ blog of mine has been nominated for an award?! *air punches in sheer joy*. If you would take 1 mintue to vote for me, I’d be so so grateful- PLUS, all those who enter could win a holiday to the Amalfi Coast. Win win baby. (please click on the picture below to go directly to my voting page)

There we have it, the last 2 months in 1000 words (924 to be exact)  & 19 pictures. PHEW. Until the next one, ciao for now!

How did you spend your summer? I hope you had a memorable one.

Fabulous to hear about all your summer! Such fabulous photos. Eastbourne looks great – we went there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. How exciting Bear has moved into a big boys bed… Mrs T is still in her cot (she just turned 3) but think it’s probably time to move her into a big one… eek!

I love your update posts but they really do make me wish you had a little more time to write more posts 🙂 I’m so excited about your relocation. Living abroad is so enriching. Even when it gets tough and homesickness takes over, it’s still so worth it x

So much has been going on for you and you seem to have been everywhere! So excited for you about the Visas! x

What the what?! You are leaving…relocating…going to Oz. So sad but so happy for you at the same time. Lots of beautiful photos – and good luck with whatever you have in the pipeline. You will always be one of my favourite people and I NEED to see you before you move xx
